Mitchell’s 35 Points Power Fever Past Sky 93-78
CHICAGO) — Kelsey Mitchell sank seven 3-pointers en route to 35 points, lifting the Indiana Fever to a 93-78 victory over the Chicago Sky on Sunday in a matchup missing stars Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese.
Clark missed her fourth consecutive game for Indiana with a groin injury, while Reese sat out her second straight contest for Chicago due to a back issue.
Aliyah Boston contributed 14 points, 11 rebounds, and six assists for the Fever (14-12), who recorded their third double-digit win over the Sky this season. Makayla Timpson added 14 points off the bench, and Aari McDonald chipped in 10.
Mitchell notched her 100th career 20-point game, second in franchise history behind Tamika Catching's, and her ninth 30-point game. She also recorded her 200th career steal as Indiana converted 23 Chicago turnovers into 31 points.
For Chicago (7-18), Rachel Banham scored 26 points with six 3-pointers. Kia Nurse had 14 points, Rebecca Allen added 13, and Kamilla Cardoso posted 12 points with 12 rebounds.
Indiana closed the first quarter on an 18-2 run to lead 26-13 and maintained a double-digit advantage for much of the game. Chicago briefly cut the deficit to six with under five minutes remaining, but Mitchell’s clutch 3-pointer and free throws sealed the win.
